Finding A Hair Loss Product That Works

Have you started to suspect that you're losing hair? Can you feel it thinning or see it coming out in your comb? Hair loss can be a very frustrating experience, especially when you feel that there's nothing you can do about it. But there actually many things you can do.

Some of the basic ways to decrease hair loss is to get good aerobic exercise to help keep hormone levels, particularly free testosterones down. Keeping stress out of your life whenever possible will also help to keep hair loss down. But these lifestyle changes alone may not be enough to prevent hair loss if you've inherited a gene.

There are other helps you will find, and have likely seen advertised on television or in magazines. There are a number of hair loss products out there that claim to help stop hair loss and promote hair growth. But how do you know which hair loss product to choose?

There are two drugs that are approved by the FDA for hair loss prevention. They are minoxidil and finasteride. Both of these have proven effective in studies, but not on every participant. They seem to be effective about half of the time with varying levels of hair growth.

Because of the strict guidelines in the United States, you are not likely to find a name brand hair loss product that contains any drug that has not been approved. As a matter of fact, these two drugs are found in every top brand of topical medication for hair loss prevention.

Knowing which brand and what level of concentration is right for you is something you would do best to consult your doctor about. It is best to have a recommendation from someone who understands your medical history and will know what might be most effect for you.

There are other hair loss products that some people have found effective. Some low level laser therapy (LLLT) devices have been approved by the FDA which help to stimulate hair growth. This is another thing to talk to your doctor about.

Of course you can find a number of products on the market that claim to prevent hair loss or promise to cause your hair to grow. Unfortunately they are not always trustworthy products. You could really spend a lot of time and money if you tried them all out, but it is best to ask your doctor what he recommends.

With any hair loss product, you will have to give it time. You can't try one product and decide after a week that it's not working for you. Unfortunately, it takes months to see the results of many of these products. Also, what works for some may not work for others. Patience and time will tell if the hair loss product you've chosen is effective for you.
